SAFETY COMPLIANCE: Injury and Illness Prevention Program (IIPP)
IIPP Compliance Mandate
OSHA compliance in California is substantially about SB198 which mandates that all employers have an Injury and Illness Prevention Program (IIPP).
The IIPP is primarily about employee safety training on all equipment used and Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) training for all hazardous materials handled. All such training must be properly documented. In addition, the IIPP requires management meetings with employees to get feedback about the safety hazards employees experience on the job so corrective actions are taken.
IIPP Opportunity
An effective safety committee will make a safer workplace and lower workers' compensation insurance costs.
